If the stain is fresh, this could make the stain disappear, especially if you tried the talcum powder method first and followed up with the boiled water.
Another stain removal technique to consider is using club soda. Moisten a clean cloth with club soda and blot the stain immediately after the spill. Never rub the stain, or it will set and become harder to get out.
If the stain is in a carpet, the key is to blot it first with a clean cloth. This will absorb the wine before it has a chance to soak into the carpet. Then, if the carpet is a light color, take a tablespoon of ammonia and place it into a cup of hot water. Wet the stain with this solution and allow it to sit for ten to fifteen minutes. After this, use another clean cloth and start blotting again.
