In some respects, the traditional Chinese art of feng shui is like acupuncture-the connections between cause and effect are sometimes obscure. Take the bathroom for instance: you wouldn't immediately associate the bathroom with wealth, but in the world of feng shui, there is a very real connection.
Feng Shui, Your Bathroom And Wealth
This mysterious connection becomes clear when you consider that the element water is directly tied to wealth. Since most of the activities in bathroom involve water, you can see where this room could have a powerful influence on your wealth. To promote positive energy (and wealth) try these tips:
- Let there be light. Keeping your bathroom well lit is a good way to boost the flow of positive energy. If you don't have a good source of natural light in your bathroom, consider adding to or upgrading your light fixtures.
- Green is good. Adding plants to your bathroom is a good way to minimize the effects of bad chi, the life energy central to feng shui. Bamboo is a great choice, as vertically oriented plants represent money. Placing your plants where they are reflected in mirrors will double the effects of the plant.
- Hide the door. Place a mirror on the outside of your bathroom door. The mirror will conceal the door and appear to expand the area outside the door.
- It's closing time. Keep all doors to the bathroom closed. This will contain negative energy generated by the bathroom. Also, keeping the toilet seat down will keep wealth energy from flowing down the drain. Keep other drains covered for the same reason.
- Go to ground. Earth toned colors are a great way to capture the positive wealth energy generated by all of the water in your bathroom. Golds, browns and tans can all be good color choices.
- Keep it clean. A clean, uncluttered bathroom is a solid way to create a good flow of positive chi. Storing items from other parts of the home in the bathroom isn't a good idea. Also, don't display family photos in the bathroom-nature scenes are more appropriate here.
