Are you considering taking CLEP exams? You can get ready for the test with some basic CLEP test preparation.

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test is a chance for you to test out of some college courses. By taking the test, you are able to demonstrate proficiency and subject knowledge that translates to college credits. This means courses you won't need to pay for in college, which makes you better able to use your tuition money to take more stimulating and higher-level classes. Always check with the college you will attend to be sure that college accepts CLEP tests for credit, how many and which subjects an individual student can take. There may be a limit to the number you can use, so don't just sign up for as many as you can. Tests are given at a CLEP testing center.

Preparing for the CLEP
The CLEP test is multiple choice, although the English composition test is essay-based. They are graded pass/fail as well as numerically. Your college may require a certain score to accept the test for credit. There are 34 tests available in five disciplines: English composition, the humanities, math, the natural sciences and social sciences/history.

After deciding to take the CLEP, it is important to study. There are different ways to prepare so that you do your best. CLEPs aren't free, so you want to pass them the first time so you save money. You have to wait six months before repeating a CLEP test.

www.collegeboard.com is the main Web site for the CLEP. This site includes many free resources that can help you maximize your chances of success. Take practice tests because they will help you get a feel for the real test. This means using the computer and taking a CLEP test online, as well as using interactive study guides for the individual subjects. Give yourself the advantage of recreating the test conditions by taking practice tests on the computer until you feel confident and prepared. These practice tests can be retaken as often as you like without penalty, unlike the real thing.

Get adequate rest and food. Preparation involves your physical and emotional state. You need to be well rested in order to do your best. Be sure to prepare your body as well as your mind.
