The word democracy comes from two Greek words: demos, which means "people" and kratia, which means "power." Democracy is the notion that brings a country to an environment that joins equal prospects and gains for the people. These prospects and gains encompass the economic, political and social spheres. This political course of action has numerous advantages.

The primary advantage is that the common people are granted liberty and rights. A secondary advantage of democracy is that it allows common people to take an active role in the country's political actions. Despite these great advantages, democracy also comes with disadvantages. One of the main disadvantages of democracy is that the masses' power can become warped and turn into a mass autocracy. Another downside of the majority ruling in democracy is that it takes away barriers in the freedom of idea or liberty of outlook.
