How to Conceive a Boy

By: Cheryl Bowman

There's no assurances to learning how to conceive a boy. Many people swear that certain methods can determine the sex of a child, but there's no proof that any of them work.

Biorhythms
Some swear by the biorhythms method when trying to conceive a boy. This method can determine whether the sex of a baby will be a boy or a girl according to biorhythms' increasing or decreasing phase. During an increase or decrease, the alkaline/acidic environment of the vagina and the electromagnetism of the egg are modified.

If the vaginal environment is alkaline, the ovum attracts the Y sperm, which results in the conception of a baby boy. A calendar based on biorhythms can help determine when the biorhythms are right for conceiving a boy.

The Shettles Method
Another way to conceive a boy is to use the Shettles method. The Shettles method is based on the fact that the Y chromosome, which is the boy chromosome, is smaller and less robust than the X chromosome, which will conceive a girl.

Part of the Shettles method is determining when you ovulate. Having sex closer to ovulation will increase the chances of having a boy and decrease the chances of having a girl. Another aspect of the Shettles method is charting cervical mucus. Search online to find calendars and charts used with the Shettles method.

Checking Your Temperature
A shortcut to the Shettles method is to track changes in your body temperature. Take your temperature every morning before you do anything else. At the time of ovulation, your body temperature will spike. Having sex as close to ovulation as possible may increase the chances of having a boy.

Chart your temperature for at least two months before you try to conceive. That way you can see the patterns emerge and get a better sense of your fertility cycle.
