Do you have a pair of glasses or sunglasses that need eye glass cases to protect them from getting scratched? Here is a silky-soft, easy way to make a glasses case that will look and feel great. To begin, collect all of your supplies and lay them out on the table before you start.
Materials needed:
Start by laying out the necktie flat on the table wrong side up so that the seam is showing. Using a ruler, measure 9 inches down the necktie. Don't include the point of the tie when you are measuring (see picture).
Draw a line across the tie at the 9-inch line and cut the tie off there. Fold the cut ends of the tie back and inside itself, then carefully sew the bottom of the tie together. If you are unable to sew you can ask a parent or grandparent to help you with this step.
Once the bottom is securely sewed you will use your Velcro dots. First place the glasses inside the case-this will affect the placement of the Velcro because the glasses are not flat. Attach the first dot to the top point of the tie and then fold that top triangular shape down and line up where to place the second Velcro dot that it will attach to (see picture). When you lay the flap out, make sure that the placing of the second dot is flat and smooth.
Now you can take your silky glasses case one step farther by adding some eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and hair to it to decorate it as an animal or a person (see picture).
Your silky-smooth eyeglass case is finished. Next time you see an old neck tie at a yard sale, you may get inspired to buy it and make a second glasses case for a friend.
