How to Make Personalized Sports Banners

Your child is a star, but now he or she can be a true sports star with these cool personalized sports banners. Hang it in their room to capture sports memories for many years. You can customize this craft for any sport that your child plays.

You Will Need:

• A 9-1/4" x 11-3/4" piece of felt

• A picture of your child in a sports uniform

• Sports foam shapes (either peel-and-stick or regular)

• Foam letters and numbers

• Glue

• Scissors

• String

• A 12" dowel stick

• Scrapbook frame

• Hole punch

Instructions:

1. Get a picture of your child in a sports uniform or playing a sport. Cut the picture to a head shot, if it is not already a wallet-sized picture. Glue the picture to the center of the 9-1/4" x 11-3/4" piece of felt.

2. Frame your child with a scrapbook frame, which can be found at any craft store. Glue the frame on top of your child's picture.

3. Lay out sports foam shapes that correspond with your child's sport (i.e., soccer balls - soccer player, footballs - football player, etc.). I suggest laying them out first before actually sticking or gluing them down, in case you need to change your layout later.

4. Lay out foam letters that spell out your child's name.

5. Lay out numbers to depict the year that your child played the sport in the picture.

6. Once you are happy with your layout, proceed with sticking or gluing the foam shapes in place.

7. Punch out two holes about 1/2" down and 1/2" in from the top of the felt piece on either side. Tie two pieces of string (approximately 4" in size) through each hole. Now tie the other ends of the string to a 12" dowel rod.

8. Place a loop of string between the two tied ends, so that you can hang the banner up.
