Male Communication Styles

People have different communication styles. If you can figure out a man's style, you can learn to talk to him in a way that will be most effective. This will allow for him to hear what you are really trying to say.

Visual communicators are those who seem to draw a picture using their hands when they talk. These kinds of people have communication styles that mean they like to know how things look and feel and want full descriptions of concrete things. Visual communicators can have a hard time on the phone because they can't see the person who is speaking.

Auditory communicators are those who communicate best verbally. They like to hear things, may be sensitive to background noises, and will be quite sensitive to dips or changes in tone. These kinds of people will want to know if they are being heard and will ask questions like, "Do you hear me?" or "Does that make sense?"

Kinesthetic-type people are those who communicate through touch. Their communication styles are more touchy-feely than other people. They are the sort to touch people on the shoulder or the knee when talking. A kinesthetic communicator is one who might feel hurt if you do not respond or communicate through touch.

Those who are aggressive can sometimes be a bit selfish because they are focused on their own needs and can be stubborn. An aggressive person can like to bully or provoke people into reactions.

People with passive communication styles do not like conflict and are more roundabout in their communication. They do not always like to make decisions for themselves and do not want to make waves when it comes to asserting an opinion. 

Assertive people explain their needs and are quite vocal about how they are feeling and why, but they are also aware of the people around them. These people are generally leaders because they are able to see both sides of a situation and then make a decision that is best for the group.
