Fun Things to Do on a Date

By: Arianna Georgi

Now that you've gone on a few dates, you've already discussed the basics, and discovered that you two have some chemistry, but later dates encourage you to go a little deeper. Also, chances are you already went to dinner, so that idea is out. Here are some suggestions for fun things to do on a date to make it a little easier.

You probably spent your first few dates giving the Cliff Notes version of your life and worrying about how things were going. An ideal date is one that takes some of the pressure off and gives you a chance to get to know each other in a less formal setting. A hike, bike ride, or other outdoor activity can be perfect. Not only will you get a workout, but you will get a chance to see your date in a whole new light. The casual atmosphere, and being out in the open air together, will make for a pleasant day whether the date is as good as your first few dates or not.

Another great, low-pressure idea is an afternoon baseball game. The game gives you an easy topic of conversation if things should start to get slow, but it also provides you with ample time to talk if things don't. Get some cheap bleacher seats, pick up a glove to catch fly balls and grab some hot dogs. If it's going well, make some bets on the teams, and have the loser buy dinner next time you go out.

If the weather doesn't allow for baseball games or outdoor activities, an art museum can also be a nice place to meet again. The art provides conversation starters and gives you a chance to get to know your date's personality a bit better. Just make sure your date likes art and museum trips before you go. Dragging someone who is bored out of their mind around a museum is no one's idea of a good time.

A Saturday or Sunday afternoon is ideal for a relaxed date. Meeting up for an afternoon date gives you the option to expand the date into evening if the chemistry you felt on the first date is still there. Plan on meeting somewhere casual, and leave the dinner plans open-ended so both of you have a chance to move at your own pace.

Overall, your dates should be casual and fun. Take the chance to get to know each other better now that the "where did you grow up" type questions have been covered. You already know you get along well and like each other enough to spend some time together. It's time to find out if you're ready for a third date, a fourth date and maybe a fifth.
