Living the single life does not destine you to a life of loneliness and despair. There are many advantages of being single. Some of those include cheaper living, job growth opportunities and a lack of the stresses that come from negative relationships.

Financial Advantages
One of the biggest advantages to being single is a lower overall cost of living. With only one person using the utilities, consuming food, etc., it is no wonder that it is cheaper to live on your own. You get to decide which luxuries are worth springing for, too. For example, if you love cable television premium channels, signing up for HBO or Showtime is your decision to make - no long discussions necessary. You simply determine if you are able to fit it into your budget.

Great Night Life Areas
Couples enjoy the night life but often do not have as much time as singles to go out for evenings on the town. Clubs are realizing one of the advantages to being single is being able to go to different places to socialize and meet new friends. More and more cities are providing nightlife for singles to attract this part of the population.

According to Forbes magazine, the No. 1 city for singles to experience nightlife is New York City. Los Angeles is another singles hot spot.

Employment Opportunities
Job growth potential is another of the advantages to being single. Often when starting a new career, you are required to dedicate time and energy to your new job. Singles don't have to worry about spouses waiting at home or calling in if there is a chance to volunteer at work to help advance their careers.

Education is a key factor for job growth. One of the advantages to being single is the ability to focus on your education to meet your career goals. If there are distance learning classes you wish to participate in for career advancement, you can do that.

When reviewing the best cities for singles to live in, Forbes magazine even included the best cities for job growth. It found that the top three cities for singles to live in for career opportunities are Austin, Orlando and San Antonio. Naturally, as a single person, you have the advantage of choosing what city you wish to move to.

Decreased Stress
Reports from all over will tell you that stress creates all types of problems for your health. One of the advantages to being single is decreased stress from negative relationships. If you are in a marriage and the relationship goes sour, there is the stress of getting out of the relationship, never mind the legal and financial problems that accompany such a situation.

One of the biggest advantages to being single is having more freedom to choose your relationships. Singles can decrease the negative effects of stress created by negative relationships simply by leaving them and starting with a clean slate. This is very difficult if you have gone to the next level and become seriously committed, engaged or even married.

Also, you can have healthy friendships and a social life when you're single. There is no worry about whether your partner approves of your friends. You can simply hit the nightlife and meet new people.
