Succeful Dating After Multiple Divorces

dating after divorce

Divorces happen. If you've had more than one, don't let it get you down or keep you from dating. The key is to not let your prior relationships negatively impact the possibility of future ones. If you stay honest with yourself and the people you date, you can end up meeting new people and living your life instead of dwelling in the past.

The first thing to do when dating after multiple divorces is to stop comparing your dates to your exes. The past is the past and the present is the present: if you expect your dates to turn out like your exes, then you'll end up sabotaging the date. Try to start each date out with a blank slate. Take your date for the evening for who he is and how he makes you feel.

Try your best not to bring up your exes during the first few dates you have with a person. It's okay to mention that you are divorced, but spending too long on this topic could send the wrong message. You want to show people you are ready to date again and that they aren't rebounds. If you talk too much about an ex, it can make it seem as if you have not moved on from your past relationship.

Thus, you need to make sure you have dealt with your divorces before you start dating again. Make sure you are ready to date again. This shouldn't be about getting back at your ex. Instead, dating again should be about meeting new people and beginning the next phase of your life.

Don't be a Debbie Downer: just because your past marriages failed doesn't mean that you can't find love again. You may have experienced heartbreak or even betrayal, but this doesn't mean that this is going to happen in the future. Dating is about rediscovering what it feels like to meet new people and find new loves. If you keep your mind open, you just might surprise yourself.
