How Do You Know When to Cross Over and Start Dating?

After several conversations over Thanksgiving dinner about everything from Top 50 horror movies to family betrayal to relationships, an interesting conversation came up about length of time for a serious partnership. I'm teased repeatedly about my blink-and-you-missed-it relationships. I always try to back it up by saying that I've had male friends for years, but you know, it's something about putting that other label on guys that makes me want to run in fear. So, I started wondering "In a relationship with a friend, would I be just as ridiculous?" I came to the conclusion quickly that I would not from the only relationship I've ever had with a guy who was my friend first (I was about 20 at the time) and then it just progressed into a relationship.
