Winter Wedding Ideas

There are many beautiful theme options when considering a winter wedding. With a bit of planning and a dash of creativity, one can have a winter wedding worthy of the most famous celebrity.

One beautiful theme is a winter wonderland theme. This can be had relatively cost efficiently. Think of ice blue, white and silvery color schemes. Bare tree branches spray painted either white or silver can be anchored in large flower pots to create a winter forest. These can be placed down both sides of the isle for a dramatic effect. The bride could carry either white roses or a bouquet of crystal ?"ice jewels?" (found in your local hobby /crafts store) and the flower girl could throw fake snow or snowflakes instead of flower petals. Lots of fake snow makes a beautiful addition to this theme. Snowflake favors would coordinate nicely. A unique ice sculpture adds flair to this theme.

Have something a bit more ?"old fashioned?" in mind? How about a Victorian winter wedding theme? The ceremony could be held at a bed and breakfast or other building from the era. The vows could be said in front of an ornate old fireplace. Centerpieces could be Victorian inspired music boxes or snow globes with figures ice skating. Or consider rose petals and ropes of pearls. The bride would of course carry roses. Instead of cold punch consider serving hot chocolate and apple cider at the reception. Or give gourmet hot chocolate as favors.  Leave the reception in a horse drawn sleigh.

The most cost efficient winter wedding theme is centered around Christmas holidays. Holding your wedding during this time minimizes the amount of decorating needed as most venues are already decorated for the holidays. Centerpieces can be simple cardboard boxes gift wrapped to look like stacks of gifts.  Or consider using white poinsettias, evergreens and pinecones. For a dramatic effect, bridesmaids could each carry a lit candle. With dimmed lights this looks beautiful! Favors could be a pretty ornament.

Whatever theme you decide to use, incorporate your personality as a couple and have some fun with it.  These days there really are no strict rules-you are only limited by your imagination!
