2009-2010 Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks


We are now 13 weeks through the 2009-2010 NFL Season and many quarterbacks have had a great year. The MVP of the NFL will likely come from the quarterback position. Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and even the aging Brett Favre have put their names in MVP contention. Here is a list of the top 10 NFL Quarterbacks for this season based on a statistical review.

#1 Top NFL Quarterback- Peyton Manning ( Indianapolis Colts)

Peyton Manning has led the Colts to a 12-0 record during the 2009-2010 NFL Season. The Colts have a decent shot at finishing the season undefeated based on their remaining schedule. The toughest remaining game for the Colts appears to be Denver. Peyton Manning had thrown for 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions through the first 12 games. He has thrown for over 3600 yards and is leading the league in yards per game at 307. Manning also has a QB Ranking over 100 at 101.9. Peyton Manning has led his team to an undefeated season through 12 games and has the other numbers to back up him as the top NFL Quarterback for the 2009-2010 season.

#2 Top NFL Quarterback- Drew Brees ( New Orleans Saints)

Drew Brees is another NFL Quarterback that has remarkably led his team to a 12-0 start to the 2009-2010 season. Brees leads the NFL in touchdowns at 29 thrown through 12 games. He has 10 interceptions but has the leagues highest QB Rating at 111.3. Drew Brees is averaging over 290 yards per game passing so far this season. Brees and Manning are both having MVP caliber seasons and could meet in this years Super Bowl.

#3 Top NFL Quarterback- Brett Favre ( Minnesota Vikings)

 Brett Favre has shown this season that at age 40 he is still a top NFL Quarterback. Favre is having one of his best seasons ever and has led Minnesota to a 10-2 record through 12 games. Favre has really improved his touchdown to interception statistics in 2009-2010. He has 26 touchdowns to only 5 interceptions. Favre has a QB Rating of 108.5. It is hard to believe that at age 40 Brett Favre is still in the discussion of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL.

#4 Top NFL Quarterback- Aaron Rodgers ( Green Bay Packers)

Aaron Rodgers replaced Brett Favre in Green Bay and is proving that Green Bay made a good decision. Rodgers has led the Packers to an 8-4 start to the 2009-2010 NFL Season. Rodgers is throwing for over 280 yards per game and has 25 touchdowns to only 7 interceptions. Rodgers has a QB Rating of 103.3 and is having his best season as an NFL Quarterback.

#5 Top NFL Quarterback- Tom Brady ( New England Patriots)

Tom Brady has not had his best season but still makes this list of top 10 NFL Quarterbacks. Brady has still been throwing for over 300 yards and has 22 touchdown passes to go along with 11 interceptions. Brady has a QB Rating of 96.9. He continues to give the Patriots a chance to win every time out and has two big weapons to throw to in Randy Moss and Wes Welker.

#6 Matt Schaub ( Houston Texans )  22 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, QB Rating 97.2

#7 Kurt Warner ( Arizona Cardinals)  23 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, QB Rating 97.0

#8 Phillip Rivers ( San Diego Chargers) 21 touchdowns, 6 interceptions , QB Rating 104.9

#9 Tony Romo ( Dallas Cowboys) 20 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, QB Rating 96.3

#10 Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers)  19 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, QB Rating 100.2

The rest of the 2009-2010 NFL season will truly tell who the best NFL Quarterback in the league is. These quarterback rankings and statistics were current through week 13. The top quarterback and MVP of the league appears to be a battle between Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Brett Favre. The winner might also bring home the Super Bowl trophy.
