Which Skateboard Deck is the Lightest?
Have you ever wondered which skateboard deck is the lightest? If you watch skateboard videos you’ve probably seen skateboarders do some tricks that appear to defy gravity. Having a lighter skateboard deck can help you perform these tricks.
When you’re looking for the lightest skateboard deck, you should avoid looking for a longboard skateboard. Although a longboard is an efficient mode of transportation, it is generally not light. This is usually not a problem, as most people don’t need a longboard to be light.
Skateboarders have varying opinions as to which skateboard deck is the lightest. Though you may hear a wide variety of skateboard decks that could be the lightest, there is one that seems to stand out of the sea of skateboard decks.
The Almost Uber Light is most often called the lightest skateboard deck there is. It has a foam core that lightens the load a great deal. Almost Uber Light skateboard decks are also thin, which adds to their lightweight factor.
On the downside, the Almost Uber Light is also thought to break rather easily. The factors that make it so lightweight, the thin deck and the foam core, take away from sturdiness. Another negative factor of the Almost Uber Light skateboard deck is the price. Each deck costs around $100, making them a bit expensive to buy if you’re going to break them.
If you want to find a compromise between a lightweight deck and a sturdy deck, look for a Plan B or a DGK. These are not quite as lightweight as the Almost Uber Light, but they are thicker and the deck is made of a sturdier material. Other sturdier decks come from the Alien Workshop, but these are far from being the lightest.
Before you start shopping for the lightest skateboard deck, determine your priorities. You’ll have to decide whether having a lightweight deck or a sturdy skateboard deck is more important.
