Using external hard Drives.

If you use external hard drives for your backups or extra storage and external USB hubs you might want to try this.   To save money use a Hard Drive Dock with a Built-In Hub that are readily available at any store that sells computer accessories or on the internet . External hard drives are very expensive. but an internal hard drive of the same size will always be cheaper then the external version.  Sometimes by a huge margin too because the internal drive doesn't need a fancy case, switches, or power cords like the external drive does. You could use an internal hard drive outside of your computer for backups and extra storage.

What they are.

These little docks let you use any SATA hard drive just by popping it into the dock!.  Plus
On the other hand, if you take a lot of photos (or video), you can just buy a less expensive internal hard drive next time you need more space and plug it into this dock!. When you think of how expensive external hard drives are compared to internal drives, you can see this will easily pay for itself the first time you use it!. External drives are big, bulky, and just take up way too much space. Well, when you use internal drives with this dock, you can just stick them in a drawer.  You can also take apart an old computer you may have laying around and easily remove the hard drive for use with this.
it works for regular 3.5" desktop drives and 2.5" laptop drives. So, if you have an old SATA hard drive sitting in a drawer, in an old computer, or whatever you can put it in these docks and have an external hard drive.

Other uses.

These are also great for getting data off other hard drives to copy over to your computer. If you have to replace your computer or have a friend that has to, and the computer is not functional, you can remove the hard drive and use these docks to transfer the information from the old computer to the new one.

Extra features on some docks.

Some Hard Dock Drives double as a 3-Port USB Hub too.  Now you can just plug this in rather than having both a Hard Dock Drive and a USB Hub plugged into your computer and taking up 2 USB ports.
