List of Internet Explorer Keyboard Shortcuts

Internet Explorer keyboard shortcuts will keep you from having to reach for your mouse every two minutes. Since most of us spend a fairly significant portion of our days at our computers, any added time savers can make a big difference. Armed with the handy list of keyboard shortcuts, you'll be breezing your way through the Web.

  • F1 Need Help? Press this.
  • ALT+HOME This will bring you to your home page.
  • F5 This will refresh the current webpage.
  • F11 This one lets you bounce between full-screen and regular views of the browser window.
  • TAB Press this to move forward through the items on a Web page, the Address bar or the Links bar. This also lets you skip to the next field in a form.
  • SHIFT+TAB Press this to move back through the items on a Web page, form, the Address bar or the Links bar.
  • ALT+RIGHT ARROW This will take you to the next page in your History list. 
  • ALT+LEFT ARROW This will take you back to the last page you visited.  
  • HOME Use this to get to the beginning of a document.
  • END Use this to get to the end of a document.
  • ESC Stuck on a page that's taking forever to load? Press this to stop downloading a page.
  • CTRL+O Use this to open a new Web site or page.
  • CTRL+N Use this to open a new window.
  • CTRL+W This will close the current window
  • CTRL+P Need to print the current page? Press this.           
  • ENTER Use this to activate a selected link.            
  • CTRL+I Use this to open your Favorites.
  • CTRL+H This will show you your browsing history.
  • ALT+P This opens the Page menu.
  • ALT+T This opens the Tools menu.
  • CTRL+click Pressing this will open the selected link in a new tab in the background.
  • CTRL+SHIFT+click Pressing this will open links in a new tab in the foreground.
  • CTRL+E Pressing this will take you to the search box.
  • ALT+ENTER This will open your search query in a new tab
  • ALT+P This will allow you to set the printing options and print the current page.
  • F4 Use this to display a list of addresses you've typed.
  • CTRL+ENTER This lets you save time by adding www. to the beginning and .com to the end of the text typed in the Address bar.         
  • CTRL+D This will add the current page to your favorites.
  • ALT+A This will open the Favorites menu from the menu .
