Anti Spy software is the best thing since sliced bread. Most people don't know how they do their job, they just do. We do know that when spyware or adware gets into your computer, your computer slows down, it freezes at the most inopportune times and does many other things that we as a user don't like. It's time for anti-spy ware. A spyware program needs to be an integral part of your computer operating system.
Computer users may try to keep spyware off of their computers, but their endeavors will be futile. Spyware and adware hide in nefarious places on your computer. They hide where you can't find them. Even Superman, with his x-ray vision couldn't find their hiding places. You can forget about eliminating them alone; you need an anti-spyware program.
"Hey, I've seen all those free spyware programs on my computer. How do I get one?"
Well, that's easier said than done. You can get a "free trial" of spyware just about anywhere. But the connection is "free trial". Usually these programs only take about ten or twenty spyware or adware items off your computer, then they want you to register (that means "buy") it.
But before we get to buying anything, let's talk about some programs. Mostly, you're going to be concerned with stand-alone programs. These are the most common.
McAfee's Spyware Killer is a good program, although a little costly. Three computers cost about seventy-five dollars per year. One computer costs about thirty-five. You can register on their site and get your own password so you can visit your site as often as you want. McAfee's and others offers free technical support, so that's a good thing. Stopzilla and Geeksquad are a couple more of the better known ones. They all offer technical support.
Having a spyware program is like having a private investigator. He's going to look out for you all the time. They investigate and scan your computer during the day and night. When they come across a suspicious item in your computer, they let you know. Once you see the notice, you can either delete the spyware or adware and your computer keeps running smoothly.
So what about the free programs?
The internet has "free trial" programs in the hundreds. When you find one from a safe and trusted company, try it out. See what it's like, but before you buy (or register), let's look at the truly free ones.
Get on the internet and enter "free registry cleaner". You will get a lot of companies, so you will have to search diligently to find a 100% free program. See the bottom of this article for a couple of free sites.
Whoa..."free registry cleaner". What is that?
A registry cleaner is a software program that searches your computer's registry, finds the suspicious entries, complies them into a list and lets you delete them or save them to your computer. A registry cleaner is an anti-spyware cleaner that also cleans your computer of all spyware and adware, trojans and other things that go bump in the night. Things that will slow your computer, cause it to freeze, or other bad, bad, things.
You must be careful when trying either the "free trial" or the "100% free" registry cleaners. Some of these items may be spyware or adware campaigns (in disguise)and may infect your computer anyway.
Get a good program and run it everyday before you start using the internet. You'll find your computer will appreciate it and will serve you well.
