There are many reasons why you may have to uninstall Internet Explorer. If something goes seriously wrong with your Internet Explorer, such as a virus, you may want to uninstall it. Then you can reinstall it, hopefully fixing the problem you were having. It's not difficult to uninstall Internet Explorer, as long as you follow a few simple steps. Here's how you can uninstall Internet Explorer if you're operating either Windows XP or Windows Vista.

From Windows XP
To uninstall Internet Explorer from Windows XP, make sure that Internet Explorer is closed. Then click on the Start button at the bottom of your computer screen and select Control Panel. Next you'll choose Add or Remove Programs. A list of all of the programs currently running on your computer will show up. Select Windows Internet Explorer from this list. Now choose Remove. Once your computer says that Internet Explorer has been removed, restart your computer and, if necessary, reinstall.

From Windows Vista
You'll uninstall Internet Explorer from Windows Vista much the way you uninstalled it from Windows XP. Make sure that Internet Explorer is closed. Then, from the Start button, choose the Control Panel. Select Programs, then on the left hand side of the screen click on View installed updates (under Tasks). Your computer will search for installed updates. When it stops, find Windows Internet Explorer, select it, then click Uninstall at the top of the list. Finally, restart the computer and if necessary, reinstall Internet Explorer.
