What's Unique in Different Instant Messenger Programs?

The more time people spend on computers, the more they use instant messenger programs. These are simply a convenient way to communicate with family and friends while you are on the computer. Here are some things that are unique in different instant messenger programs.

Yahoo Messenger

The Yahoo Messenger program has been very popular, possibly because it has a clear and friendly appearance. However, its graphics and color are not as appealing as other programs. Most people will agree that the best part of any messenger program is its selection of smileys. Yahoo has the most-loved smileys of all the instant messenger programs.

Its built-in games are a big attraction to users. There is a whiteboard to write or doodle on as well. Yahoo users have access to both spell check and animation.

Windows Live Messenger

Windows Live Messenger is Microsoft's newest instant messenger, and it has the best color and graphics of all of the instant messengers. This program has the easiest way to add and remove smileys; however, it doesn't have any smileys of its own. You have to import them from Yahoo Messenger.

If you have a Hotmail account, there is no need for you to open a new Windows Live Messenger account. You can simply sign on with your Hotmail information.

Skype

The overall appearance of Skype is very confusing, and it makes it especially difficult for new users to navigate their way around. The quality of its VoIP is the best of all the programs. The conference calls on Skype are some of the best, because 20 people can take part. You also have the ability to forward calls and receive text messages when your computer is not online.

Google Talk

Google Talk has a very simple and easy-to-use appearance. There is nothing fancy about it. This program does not have smileys. It simply offers symbols that stand for different smileys.

AOL Instant Messenger

AOL Instant Messenger is one of the oldest programs and, along with Yahoo Messenger, it is one of the most well-liked. Because of this, it isn't uncommon for 6 million people to be logged on at one time. Users can send text messages and share things like music, videos and photos. They can also use the free Internet phone and make video calls.
